In 2024 OneOncology launched a new service across the network for APPs. OneOncology’s APP Academy, a program designed by a team of APP leaders within OneOncology partner practices, went live in January with the primary goal of helping to onboard and educate APPs new to oncology and hematology.
The APP Academy offers a comprehensive, detailed education, and training outline for APPs with little to no hematology and oncology experience with an overarching goal of enhancing the process of APPs becoming productive and confident providers within community oncology practice. As part of the program and in collaboration with Advanced Practice Provider Summit (APPOS) and Horizon CME, APPs have access to the virtual course “Oncology 101: A Hematology and Oncology Primer for Advanced Practice Providers.” There is also a robust, internally shared, content library that consists of disease specific quick-reference sheets as well as more detailed topic specific educator modules. More than 45 APPs across nine practices enrolled in the APP Academy last year. At the conclusion of the inaugural year all the enrolled APPs surveyed reported an overall improved knowledge base of key clinical topics and overall practice confidence, with more than 60 percent of the enrolled APPs reporting they felt their knowledge base had improved to a “Good” or “Extensive” base level.
